Set up in about two minutes

  1. Install and pick your team

Download the app, open it, and choose who you cheer for. It finds their next game on its own.

  2. Add speakers

Scan the code in the app with a phone or tablet, or open the address on a smart TV. Tap "Turn on sound" once.

  3. Watch the game

When your team scores, press the horn and every speaker plays it. After a goal or two, the live scoreboard lines up with your TV on its own.

Questions

Do I need to install anything on the phones and TVs?

No. They use their web browser. Only the computer running Goal Horn needs the app, and every device has to be on the same Wi-Fi.

Will the scoreboard spoil goals before I see them?

Only until it learns your TV. Each time you press the horn for a goal, Goal Horn measures how far your TV runs behind the live data and holds the scoreboard back by that much. You can also set the delay by hand.

Windows or my Mac says the app might not be safe.

Goal Horn isn't signed with a paid developer certificate yet, so you see this warning once. On Windows click More info, then Run anyway. On a Mac open System Settings, then Privacy and Security, and click Open Anyway. Windows will then ask about network access: allow it, or speakers can't connect.

Can I use my own horn or song?

Yes. Upload any MP3 in Settings and it plays for that team. Your file stays on your computer.

Does my computer have to stay on?

Yes, during the game. Closing the window keeps Goal Horn running in the tray or menu bar, and it keeps the computer from sleeping while a game is live.

Can it sound the horn by itself?

Yes, it's a setting. It plays for goals in the NHL, AHL and PWHL, runs in MLB, and touchdowns in the NFL. It's off at first because score data arrives a few seconds to half a minute after the play, so it can go off early or late. The win horn plays on its own when your team wins.
